Togg tops Turkey’s electric vehicle sales, surpassing Tesla
Total car sales in Türkiye rose 10.96% year-on-year to 938,177 units during the first eleven months of 2025, while light commercial vehicle sales increased 7.13% to 238,603 units.
EV sales, including extended-range models, surged 111.4% to 166,665 units, giving electric vehicles a 17.8% market share. Meanwhile, gasoline-powered car sales fell 15.5% to 442,650 units, diesel cars declined 18.8% to 69,740, hybrids jumped 71.3% to 251,992, and LPG-powered cars rose 33.9% to 7,399 units.
Among EV brands, Togg led with 31,715 units, accounting for roughly 20% of the EV market, followed by Tesla with 29,955 units and BYD with 17,639 units. Together, these top three brands represented 47.5% of the electric vehicle market.
In November 2025 specifically, Togg again topped sales with 4,235 units, followed by Tesla with 2,535, BYD with 1,833, KG Mobility with 1,209, and Volvo with 1,189 units.
Looking at broader market trends, the share of gasoline-powered cars declined from 62% to 47.2%, and diesel cars from 10.1% to 7.4%, while LPG-powered vehicles remained at 0.8%.
Fully electric cars grew from 9.2% to 17.6%, and hybrids increased from 17.4% to 26.9%.
Combined, fully electric, extended-range electric, and hybrid vehicles made up 44.7% of total car sales, totaling 418,657 units.
Plug-in hybrids saw a dramatic surge of 658.9%, reaching 42,857 units, with BYD Seal U emerging as the best-selling hybrid at 23,131 units, followed by Toyota C-HR, Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
Togg’s success, driven by its T10X and T10F models, highlights the increasing dominance of domestic EV production in Türkiye as consumers shift away from gasoline and diesel vehicles, marking a key milestone in the country’s transition toward electric mobility.
